/ajax:voteforitem/242(30) 242PicDoodle: A simple Facebook virus
Probably not the first of its kind, but it sure is annoying. It works like this:
1. When you add the application, it requests permission to see your profile, but then it requests the "photo_upload" extended permission (the dialog requests permission to "Allow Photo Uploads from PicDoodle").
2. Once you grant it that permission, it silently uploads a small photo (for me it was a 16x16 white image, but for some people, it seems to upload a different image) to a new album in your profile, and tags a bunch of your friends as being in it. It tagged about 20 of my friends...I figure it tags the maximum allowable.
3. In the description for the photo, it says something like "check out this funny photo", followed by a link to the application. The person who got tagged clicks the link, and they're prompted to add the application. Go to #1.
If you accidentally give PicDoodle permission to upload photos to your account, go in your Photos as soon as you can and delete the picture. Your friends will have already received a notification that they were tagged, but they won't be able to see the picture and description anymore, and therefore probably won't try to add the application. /ajax:getreplytoitemform/242/242/242%3A242<reply>
